Abstract

In the present paper the daily march of transpiration of several species belonging to the "cerrado" (a savannah-like) vegetation is studied in Campo do Mourão (State of Paraná). The behavior of the stomata of several species is also studied. aThe present data are compared with those from previous work performed in "cerrados" of Emas (State of São Paulo), Campo Grande (State of Mato Grosso), Goiânia (State of Goiás) and Goiana (State of Pernambuco). The authors end by admiting that the vegetation studied in Campo do Mourão has probably migrated recently to that region after deforestation of the Araucaria-forests nearby.
