Abstract

The analysis presented in this article falls within the framework of metaphysical and postmetaphysical thought in the so-called 'continental philosophy' and focuses particularly on the contributions of Heidegger and Sloterdijk. It is not intended to give here a complete summary, or a mere summary of the thoughts of the two authors on the question of metaphysics. Instead, I shall focus on an aspect that, in my view, inheres not only the notion of metaphysics carried out by Heidegger and Sloterdijk, but also by other post-traditional philosophers: the 'traumatological' aspect. The choice of this term is motivated by the intention to show that there is a logical affinity between one of the most fundamental problems of metaphysics and the logic of trauma. The first part of the article is guided by the famous question "What is Metaphysics?", with special emphasis on the two aspects of the 'uncanny' and the 'nothing' in the works of Heidegger and Sloterdijk. The second part aims to highlight the logic of trauma that inheres to these metaphysical reflections.
