The complete text of Rašīdu-'d-Dīn's History of China which for a long time had been used by Western historians as the only basic source work has finally been published and translated, in accordance with the demands of present day historical and Oriental scholarship, by Professor Karl Jahn who for the last two decades has been working on the Persian sources of the history of Mongol rule in Persia, on Rašīdu-'d-Dīn and the role of China in Islamic historiography (cf. infra). A valuable addition to Professor Jahn's publication are the facsimile plates from one of the mss. clearly showing the Persian text as well as the numerous miniatures (cf. infra).
