Abstract

Quenching studies have been made in a spherical vessel containing known concentrations of O2(1Δ g) and O2(1Σ g +). Rate coefficients for the quenching of O2(1Δ g) by CO and of O2(1Σ ) by N2O, D2O, NH3, C3H8, C2H2, HCl and DCl have been determined. Efficient wall deactivation of O2(1Δ ) by adsorbed hydrogen halides was observed.
