Architectural Association School of Architecture Publisher Description
Founded in 1847, the AA School of Architecture is the UK’s oldest independent school of architecture and has for more than a century been recognised as a worldwide leader in architectural education. The AA also has a dedicated publishing operation established as a means of opening up the interests of the AA to wider debate. All of its titles (both books and journals) are derived in some way from the activities of the school. Some are directly connected to public events – to exhibitions, conferences and other events – while others reflect more general concerns with developments in architecture, engineering, landscape and urbanism, as well as the fields that touch on them – philosophy, history, art and photography. Founded as a means of examining influential contemporary projects and opening up ideas to debate, AA Publications has a long tradition of publishing architects, artists and theorists early in their careers.
