Tel Aviv University, founded in 1953, is today Israel's largest higher learning and research institution with over 30,000 students in 98 departments. Courses in all fields are taught in Hebrew but some  programs are offered in other languages for students from abroad. Many TAU faculty members received prestigious international awards, and have made the university a prominent participant in today's world of higher education.
