Description:

Zion is a quarterly for research in Jewish History, continuously published since its founding by Yitzhak Baer (1888-1980) and Benzion Dinur (1884-1973) in 1935/36. Prior to Zion, the journal which appeared in the years 1926-1934 was entitled “Zion: Me''asef”. Since then, it is edited by senior Israeli scholars, selected by the publisher, the Historical Society of Israel, from the faculty of Israeli universities.

Zion covers all aspects of the history of the Jews, across all the lands in which Jews lived, from antiquity to the modern era. It publishes articles, studies in historiography, review essays, and book reviews. There are also special issues, in honor or memory of distinguished scholars, or devoted to particular topics of interest. It is the policy of the journal that all articles published are first sent to double-blind peer review.

החברה ההיסטורית הישראלית, מיסודם של פרופ'' יצחק בער ובן-ציון דינור, מוציאה לאור, מאז שנת 1935, את הרבעון "ציון" לחקר תולדות ישראל, והוא כתב העת המרכזי לחקר ההיסטוריה של עם ישראל היוצא לאור בארץ. הרבעון מופיע בשפה העברית עם תקצירים באנגלית. "ציון" ראה אור כסדרה ראשונה בשנים 1926-1934. מאז שנת 1936 ועד היום רואה אור כסדרה חדשה.
ב"ציון" מתפרסמים מאמריהם של מיטב החוקרים בארץ ובחו"ל בתולדות עם ישראל לתקופותיו ולרבדיו: תקופת המקרא, ימי הבית השני והמשנה והתלמוד, ימי הביניים והעת החדשה. המאמרים עוסקים במגוון רחב של נושאים המקיפים את ההיסטוריה היהודית על כל גילוייה הרוחניים והחומריים: היצירה התרבותית, החיים הקהילתיים הפנימיים, היחסים בין ישראל לאומות העולם, חיי הכלכלה, תולדות ארץ ישראל, ועוד. בחוברות "ציון" יש מדור נרחב של מאמרי ביקורת על מחקרים חדשים בשפות השונות, וכן תיאור קצר של ספרים חדשים בהיסטוריה של עם ישראל.

Moving Wall: 5 years (What is the moving wall?)

The "moving wall" represents the time period between the last issue available in JSTOR and the most recently published issue of a journal. Moving walls are generally represented in years. In rare instances, a publisher has elected to have a "zero" moving wall, so their current issues are available in JSTOR shortly after publication.
Note: In calculating the moving wall, the current year is not counted.
For example, if the current year is 2008 and a journal has a 5 year moving wall, articles from the year 2002 are available.
