Abstract
A summation of the results of a series of "opinion studies" conducted over the past twenty years on selected samples of both natural and social scientists clearly reveals that the "idea of race" no longer enjoys its once take-for-granted and unquestioned status as a scientific concept. The views on the race concept held by physical anthropologists, biologists, cultural anthropologists, psychologists, and sociologists are presented and discussed; and the future status of "race" is assessed.
